Book three in the Rune Alexander series

A baby necromancer calls her mother from the grave, starting a zombie infestation Rune and the crew are not prepared to handle.

But as always, they jump headlong into battle--a battle that will lead into some of the darkest moments of Rune's life. Moments that will shatter her tenuous grip on sanity and make her long for the man whose abuse allowed her to function.

And when she falls, the berserker is there to catch her. To bring her back. To give her what she needs.

The zombies are just the beginning. Worse even than the zombies is what comes after--a nightmare witch named Damascus, a horrific decision, and death.

Always, death.

As she is given another jagged piece to the puzzle of her past, Rune knows that despite its best attempts, life doesn't have the ability to destroy her--though she offers it all the help it might need.

With Strad Matheson and the crew behind her, Rune will stride through hell, horror, and the endless, black despair of her own mind to show the monsters why Shiv Crew is the scariest group of warriors they will ever face...

Strange Trouble Rune Alexander Book 3 eBook Laken Cane

When I finished book 2 I've been thinking - well, it's going too well and I hope its not gonna turn into one more Anita Blake disaster... But unfortunately it looks like what is exactly going to happen! I'm afraid to open the next installment and get even more disappointed.
The plot in book 3 is simply non-existent, the main character suddenly loses her focus, magic and courage (and brains along with that). Most of the book she was running around like a chicken without head. And dont forget all these men wishing to have a piece of her.

Strange Trouble Rune Alexander Book 3 eBook Laken Cane Reviews

Oh this was such a roller coaster of emotions and events!!! Such an amazing story and so action packed. Definitely holds your attention and keeps you hooked in. There is no down time for Rune!!!
This was a bit of a mess compared to previous installments. The biggest problem is that the author suffers from telling us what happens rather than showing us what happens by using well written descriptive passages. This particular installment also suffers from too much happening without any clear narrative structure. It makes for a chaotic and confusing read. Rune is still an interesting character and the world she has created is equally interested, so I'll stick around for now.
While I was enjoyed enough and I should say eager enough to get all the way to the third book in this series I just finally had enough.
I will explain....
***spoiler**
I can't tell you how much I can't stand it when characters can't stay dead. I can understand coming back once but come on you should not bring them back so many times that I'm thinking "stay down already"! Then there is Rune....ahh the oh so mighty Rune who can, or wait was it she couldn't, except her monster. I really thought we got past that in book 2. For me it was another never ending cycle. Some points just have to be made and then find something else to write about. All that said I still give it a 3 for keeping me interested enough to finish the book. The writing style was good but plots and characters needed to be more believable for me. Some of it was just overkill.
Hell hath no fury like a zombie-wielding child! Strange Trouble is the third installation of the Rune Alexander series by Laken Cane. This novel features a young addition to their world who accidentally releases the undead; it is Shiv Crew's job to save humans from the zombies and protect the child, but this does not happen without personal loss & pain to the several members of the crew. While Rune firmly plants both feet on this side of immortality, her heart is still strangely human as she deals with both love and suffering in this book. It was a great read and highly recommended.
This is the third in the Rune Alexander series and in my opinion, not as good as the first or second book. It starts right where the second left off and I think that is part of the problem. We don't ever get a break in the action. Ever. Rune goes from one crisis to another to another to another....and when she isn't in battle or crisis mode, she's trying to heal for the next battle. Usually I like this type of action when it's well done. However, I just ended up confused during this book.
What was the main point? Why is she just running around? She's supposed to be intelligent but it seemed to me in this book that she was just reacting, not thinking at all. In any case I will keep reading this series because I enjoy the action scenes and the intensity of the writing. I just hope then next one will be better thought out.
What more can be expected? I just wish one element of the story was resolved in this book. Start with book 1. The series is very good. There are parts of the story which are difficult for me to deal with but integral to the character. There was one idea at the end I do not want to happen -- I don't want Rune to backslide. Not with the potential of two in her future -- or at least that was the way I was reading it . I do not want to give any details. Just read the series. It is not for everyone but well worth the time.
Laken Cane could write the ingredients for Spam and I'd pay to read it!
From literally page one, book 3 in the saga of Rune Alexander and her remarkable Crew
, was one of the most brutal roller coaster rides of turmoil and emotion I've ever been on!
I just want to help Rune main-line whiskey and fast!
This series gets better...and harder to heal from...with every chapter. I don't know where we're headed and that kills me! My heart was torn apart so many times in this book that I don't know how I'll stand waiting for book 4.
Absolutely amazing!
When I finished book 2 I've been thinking - well, it's going too well and I hope its not gonna turn into one more Anita Blake disaster... But unfortunately it looks like what is exactly going to happen! I'm afraid to open the next installment and get even more disappointed.
