The world of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the Belle Epoque, and the bohemian life of artists and writers in 1900 Paris are vividly brought to life by author Pamela Eglinski, in this time travel novella--the first in a three-book series.

Thrust into a world one-hundred and sixteen years in the past, Adrienne Phillips is forced to decipher the final enigmatic words of her dying grandmother. A Moulin Rouge can-can dancer befriends Adrienne, and together they work to solve the riddle.
Dynamic characters and a richly layered plot draw you in from start to finish. The answer to the future lies in the well-known painting by Toulouse-Lautrec, At the Moulin Rouge The Dance.

Altered history, intertwined with Ray Bradbury's "butterfly effect," engage the reader in a journey through time--a trip you might enjoy taking if there were a guaranteed return ticket. Adrienne has no such guarantee, and neither do you.

It was very well written. You were right there with the characters. Since "Back to the Future" I haven't read or watched about time traveling. I enjoyed it very much.

The CanCan Girl and the Mysterious Woman in Pink Time Travel Series Book 1 eBook Pamela Boles Eglinski Reviews

Loved learning more about the Moulin Rouge and Lautrec...this was a very engaging read.
I am looking forward to the second in Pam's time-travel series.
My friends have all been singing praises for all of Ms. Eglinski’s books, but when I heard she had one that involved time travel AND Toulouse-Lautrec, I had to jump on the band wagon. I was not disappointed. This book is delightfully entertaining while captivating the reader with enough details to keep it believable. It will not be my last book by this author.
If you are a fan of art, this is a must read. Having watched Midnight in Paris, this story complemented the film. Many of my favorite artists were mentioned in the novel. All that is missing are the novelists that frequented the many Cafes.
We are proud to announce that THE CAN-CAN GIRL AND THE MYSTERIOUS WOMAN IN PINK by Pamela Boles Eglinski is a B.R.A.G.Medallion Honoree. This tells a reader that this book is well worth their time and money!
I don’t know much about art or how artists design their paintings, so this tale was a delightful introduction, as well as to the world of Paris during the Belle Epoque. Beyond that, it’s a fun time-travel fantasy with interesting characters. I’m looking forward to more books like this from the author.
The title to this unusual time travel story caught me... so I read a sample and got it. I admit the 1900 Paris' art scene is not one with which I am familiar nor is it one that I would have picked off the shelf... but I read it cover to cover; perhaps because they are closer together than I usually read. Mostly I read it because it kept my interest and was unexpectedly fascinating. Saying why it was so captivating may be too much of a spoiler, so let me just say it was not as fluffy as it looks. It is very well written. It is well worth buying if you like unusual time travel stories.
What child doesn’t enjoy listening to their grandparents’ tales? Being transported back through time to another era, when everything was different. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to experience it first hand?

For as long as she can remember, Adrienne’s grandmother Marguerite Kingsley, has always been infatuated by a painting she once owned, and donated to the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, the famous, At the Moulin Rouge The Dance, by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Her fascination was such, that as a child, Adrienne had fond memories of listening to the stories her grandmother would tell, of the people in the painting, and the lives they led. Now an adult living in San Francisco, her grandmother’s love of art has followed through to her, as she enjoys working in the nearby arts district, organising and hosting exhibitions.

However, no-one lives forever, and when her beloved grandmother whispers an urgent plea to her on her death bed, Adrienne is not sure how she can accomplish it. After all, her grandmother can’t know what she has asked, how can she expect her to carry out her last wish, when Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec has been dead for one hundred and sixteen years?

Then, as if ordained, fate steps in, a small item of her grandmothers, and the contents of a box that she kept by her bed, pique her interest. Intrigued at what she has discovered, she decides to investigate further. In her quest for answers, she finds herself sitting studying the painting at the Philadelphia Museum of Arts...

One minute she is in San Francisco 2016, and in the next she is transported back in time to the Moulin Rouge in September 1900. Fascinated she discovers that she is actually living history. She is in the painting, here are the actual people her grandmother told the stories about. Soon she discovers that the stories were not made up as she imagined, but were true, her grandmother had actually been there. How could this be?

Then, as she watches the can-can girls perform, and takes in the incredible atmosphere of the place, she sees him, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, and wonders, can she fulfil her promise?

This is a very cleverly written story, Pamela Boles Eglinski has managed to capture the very essence of this incredible painting, and life in the Belle Époque peak of the post-impressionism period. As a lover of Paris especially around beautiful Montmartre, I adore the way this exciting district has been brought to life in this story, and I am looking forward to its sequel.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
